The Grip

How to hold the bar
You should almost always be utilizing a “hook grip” when holding the bar. The hook grip is very simple, the bar is first gripped with the thumb, and then the remaining fingers wrap around both the thumb and the barbell. This is a more secure and stronger grip.

Getting used to the hook grip can be uncomfortable. In truth, it can be a little painful, but your body will adapt to it. Bathing the hands in an ice batch for 5-15 minutes after training can be very helpful in easing any discomfort, and should also help you’re your body’s adaptation process.
