Risto Sports
Linea Blanca and White Thunder – $140 (currently on sale for $119!)

Rating: 10/10

Summary:
The Risto Sport is really is a great weightlifting shoe.  Brief warning…I may be a little biased as these are actually my lifting shoes of choice!

Pros & Cons:
My experience with Risto was very positive.  It started with a nice call directly to one of their team members who was more than helpful with sizing and even offered me a discount for being a trainer!  I selected these shoes because I loved the idea that they were hand made and the awesome aroma of real leather hits your nose as soon as you open the box.  The shoes fit comfortably and their sizing guide worked perfectly for me, but beware…their sizes do not directly correspond to EU sizes…follow their guide!  They felt a little lighter to me than the super heavy Nike Romaleos, but were similar in comfort.  I went with the Linear Blanca over the White Thunder based on some advice from Risto (they advised me the Linear Blanca were better for wide feet).  When lifting I feel very stable without feeling overly confined or weighed down.  These shoes were designed by weightlifters and it shoes.  Risto is also a fair trade company (i.e. no sweat shops).  These also run a little cheaper than the high end Romaleos and high end Adidas shoes.

Just like the Nike Romaleos, the pros to this shoe are closely related to the cons.  The shoe is big and sturdy…which makes it heavier than the Pendlay or Do-Wins.  These aren’t ideal for CrossFit athletes looking to use them for MetCon type workouts, but they are excellent for your Oly lifting days!  They are less awkward to walk in than the Romaleos, and you could probably run in them, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Fit:
he shoes fit comfortably and their sizing guide worked perfectly for me, but beware…their sizes do not directly correspond to EU sizes…follow their guide!

Overall:
10/10: These are great, responsibly made, well designed, reasonably priced weightlifting shoes.  If you can snag these on sale (sometimes they go on sale for $119) that is a great deal at almost half the price of the highest priced Oly shoes.

You do have to purchase these directly on the Risto website:
